Well, my blog-buddy, Goldfish, has been participating in the 25 Songs/25 Days challenge and I’ve been enjoying her posts so much that I thought I’d dip a toe in the water.

Here’s the list of 25 song categories – I can’t promise to post every day, but I will do my best. I’m also going to challenge myself not to look at the next day’s category, so that I get fresh thinking each day.

Day 1 – A song from my childhood

In thinking about this, there’s many songs that are still with me despite the time – songs I got from my brother and sister’s record collections, others from those of my Mum and Dad. But as this song infers fond memories, I’m going to recall Saturday morning at my Nan and Gramps, after a happy sleepover, when we’d put various 45s on their stereo and dance and sing our hearts out.

[oh, how happy it makes me to remember this!]

And of the handful of tunes that come to mind from that time, here’s the one I’ll share today:

[And, of course, the version we had didn’t have the spoken intro – the innuendo went over my 6-year old head, though maybe not completely – I do know now why Nan & Gramps howled with laughter when we’d sing it 🙂 ]

Now, looking at this video with current sensibilities, I’m amazed by Berry’s showmanship and playfulness – just wonderful all the way through.
