Well, into Week 3 of self-isolation due to COVID-19, and I’m taking a conscious decision to face boredom head on. Those of you who know me, know that boredom is my Achille’s Heel – too long without something to make my synapses fire and I can go down-hill fast.
So, I’m choosing not to do that. It’s time to get productive and get moving.
Here’s what’s bubbling now:
- I’m just uploading the first of my Base Tracks – these are songs that I can’t find my voice in, yet might have mileage for others. They’ll have, at minimum, drums, bass, and rhythm guitars, and the FREE download will include a mixed track as well as raw stems.
- In early February, shortly before the pandemic began to hit the headlines, I began work on a business book on “Project Management For HR” – the first draft is done and I’m about halfway through the second draft. This next few days I’ll finish that work, and then get the draft out for reviews from trusted colleagues (let me know if you’d like to do that). I also have to flesh out the website (in draft at the moment), and plan the marketing, which will be under my business, View Beyond LLC, and delivered primarily via LinkedIn.
- I’m up to thirteen or so tracks for what I’ve long been calling the “Next Record”, so getting close to putting it all together. Final mixing and mastering should be done during the next month. Here are a couple of the working mixes:
Bored Again…
Song For Gary
Chase The Moon - I’ve decided to share here one of the novels I’ve had in progress for YEARS, working title “Rufus”. I keep toying with it (and, indeed, have posted snippets here every so often), but I’ve never quite found my way back to the page. Our eldest, Elise, read it recently and liked it, and wanted to know what happens next, so maybe someone else will too. Who knows, if the wider reaction is positive, it might spur me to dive back in. I’m going to release a chapter of Rufus every other day, starting this evening.
- Talking of which, the novel that sprang out of the Asylum short film script has begun to tickle at me. Once the HR book is done, I think I’ll be diving back in there again.
So, lots of moving pieces – like I say, it’s important that I keep myself busy!
I will announce each of these things as they happen here, on Instagram and Facebook – so make sure you follow me at one of those to stay up to date.
Thanks for being here,
Vince
