You see, like many artists, I have tried the “give it away for free” route, and I have to tell you it’s an energy-sapping, muse-destroying distraction – and the boxes upon boxes of novels and CDs don’t ever stop reminding me that free does NOT convert into purchase.
Period.
So, I decided to do things differently – and move to a membership model – so that I’m talking with people who actually want to do the same with me:
