Diptych: Study of the Human Body — From a Drawing by Ingres
Plinky.com asked me whether I follow my heart or my head.
And I asked why
should I
limit myself
to those two humble organs
When legs and arms
gut and tail
lungs and tongue
never fail
to add to the whole
of
life and joy
sadness and pain
loss and connection
Thrills and spills
and bellyaches
Leaning left
which paths to take?
This body speaks
in wires and hum
flow and ease
from the very top
to the deepest doldrum
I follow my body
My body follows me
We're indistinguishable
This bone
This thought
This fear
This smile
This gaze
This diaphragm's lift
I follow me
Simple as that
I follow me
