I have seen the world
in the blink of an eye
I have seen life lost
in breath gone by
I have been my least
at the best of times
I have lost my mind
between the lines
You who took up arms
‘gainst a foe you made
You who pushed us down
then crushed with blame
You who perched on high
and showered scorn
You who closed your heart
and locked the door
We who seek relief
in a moment’s shame
We who find relief
when we play your game
We who believe we’re
immune to your call
We who believe we
can survive alone
So it falls to us
who else could do?
Fix this life we have
be wood and glue
We’re the solution
for all that ails
One thing alone to see
Mending starts with me
Mending Starts With Me is a work in progress – I have a guitar piece that goes around in circles, and this is what comes to mind when I sing along!
Whether I’ll record it or not is another matter – there’s no chorus, no bridge, just that cycle going on and on.
