Words: Little Chicorita

By October 24, 2011Poems, Writing

Oh my little
chicorita
Sizzling
siestas
singing
jalapeño
hot
Little
chicorita
rattling
bones

Hard case
caffeine
boneheads
waking
Nasty
slumbers
Daylight’s
timeless
quest
simply
being present

Grist
Grind
Greatest
taste
I ever
found
Whetting
appetites
roasted over
slow
smouldering
coals

Did I slice
this stone
Breaking
little
chicorita?
Grinding her
to dust
only to
sate
my own
shallow
tastings

So sorry
lady chic
my little
chicorita
Some things
they grow
more
urgent

[from Jorge’s prompt: Chickory]
